01:30 AM - 02:15 AM: Early Start & Comfortable Transfer Your adventure begins in the quiet, early hours of the morning. Our trusted driver will provide a warm welcome and pick you up from your Ubud hotel in a private, comfortable vehicle for the journey to the Kintamani region.
03:30 AM: Briefing at the Basecamp Upon arrival at our Mount Batur base lounge, you'll meet your experienced local trekking guide. They will give you a thorough safety briefing, provide you with a flashlight/headlamp, and ensure you're fully ready for the ascent.
04:00 AM: The Ascent Begins In the cool, pre-dawn darkness, we begin our trek. Your guide will lead the way up the volcanic path, setting a steady pace that matches your group's fitness level. The trail is steep and challenging, but hiking under a canopy of stars is a truly special experience.
06:00 AM: Summit, Sunrise & Volcanic Breakfast You'll arrive at the summit just as the sky begins to glow. Your guide will find the perfect spot for you to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise. As you soak in the panoramic views, your guide will prepare a simple but memorable breakfast for you, using the natural volcanic steam to cook eggs.
07:00 AM: Crater Rim Exploration After breakfast and photos, your guide will lead you on a fascinating walk around the main crater rim. You'll see active steam vents up close, learn about the volcano's powerful eruption history, and marvel at the unique landscape.
08:00 AM: The Descent We begin our walk back down the mountain, now with the morning light illuminating the incredible scenery of Lake Batur and the surrounding farming villages.
09:30 AM: Optional Natural Hot Springs & Return Upon returning to the base, you have the option to head to the nearby Batur Natural Hot Springs to soothe your tired muscles in the healing, warm mineral waters. Afterward, our driver will safely transport you back to your hotel, arriving in time for a well-deserved midday nap!

Returning to the Base :

The Descent & Optional Rejuvenation

We begin our walk back down the mountain, now with the morning light illuminating the incredible scenery. Upon returning to the base, you'll have the option to head to a nearby natural hot spring to soothe your tired muscles before we make our journey back to your hotel.

How difficult is the hike, really?

We believe in being honest: it is a challenging, steep hike in the dark. However, thousands of people with a moderate base level of fitness complete it every year. Our guides are experts at setting a manageable pace, providing a helping hand, and keeping you motivated. The feeling of accomplishment at the top is worth every step!

Do I need special hiking boots?

While professional hiking boots are great, sturdy closed-toe trainers or running shoes with good grip are sufficient. We absolutely do not permit sandals, flip-flops, or casual slip-on shoes for your safety.

What happens if the weather is bad or cloudy?

The tour proceeds rain or shine, as the weather on the mountain changes rapidly. The physical achievement of climbing the volcano is an adventure in itself! However, Mother Nature is unpredictable, and perfectly clear sunrise views cannot be guaranteed. In the rare event of severe weather that makes the trail dangerous, we will contact you to reschedule.

Is there an age limit for this trek?

We don’t have a strict age limit, but we recommend this trek for fit individuals and older children (e.g., 12+) who have some hiking experience and are prepared for a physical challenge. Please consult with us if you have concerns about suitability.

What is the breakfast at the summit like?

It’s a simple, unique, and memorable experience! Your guide will use the natural heat from volcanic steam vents to cook eggs. This is typically served with bread, bananas, and a hot drink like coffee or tea.
